Window Cleaning Surrey
Traditional window cleaning or water fed pole system, which method is the best? Of course, each to their own! You have been cleaning windows for years and making a good living out of it so why change? We use both at Jarvis Window Cleaner and here is a honest look at the subject. This topic is discussed so often on Facebook, this article or blog will help you to answer that question once and for all (or maybe not)...
Window Cleaning Service (traditional or modern water fed pole system)
The issue is not the method but the technique. For example...
If you were to give someone traditional tools, a squeegee and applicator, some microfibre cloths would they be able to get a perfect finish cleaning windows all day? no way! It takes time to learn how to clean windows with the right technique. I am sure you would agree. Now give a traditional window cleaner a WFP system cleaning windows all day, would he or she be able to get a perfect clean window including glass and frame? No way! It takes time to learn to use a new way of cleaning and a whole new technique. In our next blog we will explain one technique that gives us a spotless finish every time. Let us look at 3 reasons why you should consider investing in the a water fed pole system. The SSS reasons to start cleaning with WFP.
How many window cleaners to you personally know that have fallen off a ladder? We personally had a fall off a ladder with no injuries thankfully, that’s when we realised we need to invest in the WFP system. Working at height is the most common injury in the work place! Is the WFP the safer option? Yes! Bear in mind that you will be using different muscles in your back, neck and arms so you need to strengthen those muscles and stretch properly before and after work to prevent injury. Great advice here: https://f-w-c.co.uk/images/HSE_Window_Cleaners_Best_Practice_Guide_FINAL.pdf
Will using the WFP make you clean faster? At first no, it might even take you longer until you nail down the technique. It is like learning how to clean windows all over again which we would say takes you about a year learning. Different types of window frames and glass need to be cleaned differently using the WFP system. Except to be learning the WFP way of cleaning for about 6 months till you can guarantee a spotless finish.
Does using hot water clean better than cold water? Yes, does using more water clean better than a little amount of water? Yes! With WFP you are using a lot more water per window. Of course your using purified water so that attracts the dirt off the glass and leaves pure water on the glass to dry spotless. Bear in mind you are using more water so think about collecting rain water to be more eco friendly!
When we first heard about the WFP system we were sceptical at first, “that will never work!” “What will not do a good job!” That’s what we said, until someone showed us how to clean windows using the water fed pole system. They showed us what we need and the right technique. At first we made mistakes and left spots. One reason why that happened was because the window has left over dirt and soap in the cracks of the frames from the previous traditional window cleaning. Second reason is that it takes time to learn the right technique, your using different muscles, looking up more so you might miss marks on the glass. You can not see the ledge on first floor window sills. It took us around 6 months to learn the right technique and we will work safer, faster and better! We still use the traditional method when needed but 90% of our window cleaning is WFP.
